Acceptable Use Policy
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the rules for using the Notery platform operated by TechHive Labs LLC. This policy supplements our Terms of Service and applies to all users of the Service, including the website, REST API, and MCP server.
2. Prohibited Content
You may not use the Service to store, share, or distribute content that:
- Is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or invasive of another's privacy.
- Infringes on intellectual property rights, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, or trade secrets belonging to others.
- Contains malware, viruses, trojans, or any code designed to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to systems.
- Contains personally identifiable information (PII) of others without their consent, including social security numbers, financial account numbers, or health records.
- Constitutes phishing materials, credential harvesting pages, or social engineering attack content.
- Promotes illegal activities, violence, or discrimination against individuals or groups.
3. Prohibited Conduct
You may not:
- Abuse the API — send requests at a rate that degrades the Service for other users, attempt to circumvent rate limits, or use automated tools to scrape or harvest data beyond your own workspace.
- Circumvent access controls — attempt to access workspaces, documents, or accounts that do not belong to you, or bypass authentication mechanisms.
- Impersonate others — create accounts using another person's identity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Reverse engineer — decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any part of the Service, except as permitted by applicable law.
- Resell without authorization — resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to third parties as a competing product without our written consent.
- Abuse free tiers — create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits or use free-tier resources for commercial operations that should be on a paid plan.
- Interfere with the Service — deliberately attempt to overload, crash, or degrade the performance of the Service or its infrastructure.
4. API and MCP Usage
Programmatic access through the REST API and MCP server is subject to the following rules:
- API keys must be kept confidential. Do not share keys publicly or embed them in client-side code.
- Respect rate limits. Automated retry logic should use exponential backoff.
- Do not use the API to build a service that competes directly with Notery without our written consent.
- API access is limited to your own workspace data. Attempting to access other users' data is a violation of this policy and may constitute a criminal offense.
5. Resource Limits
Each subscription plan includes resource limits (document count, API rate limits, etc.). You agree to operate within the limits of your plan. If your usage consistently exceeds your plan limits, we may ask you to upgrade or reduce your usage.
6. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this policy, please report it to [email protected]. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action.
7. Enforcement
Violations of this policy may result in:
- Warning — for first-time or minor violations, we may issue a warning and request corrective action.
- Temporary suspension — your account or API access may be temporarily suspended while we investigate.
- Permanent termination — for serious or repeated violations, we may permanently terminate your account without refund.
- Legal action — we reserve the right to pursue legal remedies for violations that cause harm to us, our users, or third parties.
We aim to act proportionally and will generally provide notice before taking action, except in cases where immediate action is necessary to protect the Service or its users.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated with at least 30 days' notice. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
